We usually think of stone as "hard," it is a porous material. Natural stone has varying degrees of porosity depending on the type of stone.
If left unsealed, spills and everyday messes can easily penetrate the surface. The liquid eventually evaporates but the stain remains.

Highly acidic substances such as orange juice, coffee and wine will also etch acid sensitive stones and leave a dull mark.
Sealing your stone, tile & grout is a small step of protecting your expensive investment.

| How to test if your stone, tiles & grout are sealed? |

Make sure surface area is clean, dry and free of waxes and coatings

Apply a tablespoon of water 1 inch in diameter to the stone surface

Allow the water to stand on the stone for 5-30 minutes

If surface is unsealed, the water will absorb into the stone and darken the surface (absorption speed will depend on porosity of the stone).

If surface is already sealed or if stone is very dense, the water will bead up and stand on the surface.

| To prevent or limit staining problems in grout for ceramic tile, a grout sealer is recommended. |
The grout is very porous (excluding the epoxy grout) if left unsealed it will be stained very easely.A&P can restore the original look of you grout using powerfull and at the same time safe cleaning solutions.A&P recommends to seal your tile and grout after every restorational cleaning.
